The trek to Gokyo Lake and Everest Base Camp will be the highlight of your trekking career. Gokyo Lake and Everest Base Camp Trek is a unique experience on Everest and this Himalayan region. Some fly to Kathmandu and maybe fly a day earlier to spend an extra day in Kathmandu to enjoy the busy city and help after the earthquake. Your aim should be to arrive in the afternoon before your trek. There are many places to visit and explore here, and you can pick up any temporary items on the streets of the Thamel area. Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. We depart early in the morning on a Twin Otter flight to Lukla (2,853 m/9,360 ft), the gateway to the Khumbu region. It was an exciting flight and it should be possible to see Mount Everest in the distance. In Lukla we meet our trekkers, porters or yak herders before heading straight to Phakding (2,600m/8,500ft) for the first night. Or continue to Monjo 2,850/9,350 feet. This small village on the banks of the Dudh Kosi River, which runs through the entire Khumbu region, is on the main trade route in the area and there are many clean and well-built huts for us to stay in. Go to Namche Bazaar. We continue up the bank of the Dudh Kosi river, crossing it twice through the small suspension bridge before reaching the village of Monjo, and then entering the Sagarmatha National Park. We then cross the junction of Dudh Kosi and Bhote Kosi on a high suspension bridge before climbing steeply up “Namche Hill” to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) for about two hours. It was a thriving trading city and the capital of the Khumbu region. Many Tibetans cross the nearby border to trade their goods and the local market is a fascinating sight. We will spend the day in and around Namche. We move towards the Sherpa Museum and the Everest Viewpoint at an altitude of 3,600 meters. This is important so that you can acclimatize better and reach higher altitude safely for further advances in the Everest region. In the afternoon we will rest and relax and enjoy a delicious chicken roast at the hotel. You must stay well hydrated and drink 4 to 5 liters of water a day. One hour hike today. Best Time To Trek Everest Base Camp

Today is used as an additional acclimatization day as we have to get used to the low oxygen levels. We will climb Mount Shambush 3 at 900m/12,800ft and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Everest region. During this critical period of acclimatization, we take the time to rest and descend to a higher altitude to help the process. This allows our bodies to adjust to an altitude of 3,440 m/11,286 feet. After this wonderful trek, we return to Namche for lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing or wandering in the unique market village of Namche.

After three nights in Namche, we left the main Everest trail to Dole at 4,110 m/ 13,152 ft. We climbed steeply from Namche Bazzar to Khumjung village. From Khumjung we have a wonderful view of Thamserku, Kantega and Ama Dablam. The toughest climb of the day is via Mongla, a very fascinating site on the crest of Mount Kumbila. In the center of the village of Mongla is an old historical pagoda. We stopped at the top of Mengla Mountain to have lunch while admiring the breathtaking views of the mountains and the surrounding snow-capped valleys. Wildlife such as pheasants, goats and wise musk deer are not uncommon along the way. After a walk through forests, waterfalls and bridges, we arrived in Dole, a small town with a few tea houses.
