Siegfried & The Twilight Of The Gods

British illustrator Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) revived interest in book photography at a crucial time in the development of printing technology. The subtle colors and soft lines gave new life to the whole novel image, which was different from before, as if from the fog of a wild imagination. One of Rackham’s talents is his ability to convey the horror of grotesque humanoid trees and trolls and the beauty of fairies, princesses, and warriors. Siegfried and the Night of the Gods is widely considered to be Rackham’s best work. Based on Richard Wagner’s Götterdämmerung, the final piece in a series of four operas called Der Ring des Nibelungen (“The Ring of the Nibelung”) is based on Norse mythology. Rackham created 30 full-color illustrations for this work, which are amazing in their depiction of the passion and many elements of The Ring. There was the hope of love and the sadness of love betrayed and lost. The reprints of these images were not perfect, and Rackham carefully went through the reprinting process of the first edition to ensure that the images met his standards. ___Description: restored ivory paper with spine, original publisher’s paper label to spine, dark gray paper, margin signed by Arthur Rackham on back of front cover, title page Green Letters and Miniatures by Black Rackham , 30 color images on heavy black paper, each image captioned with text, 9 images (including title page) in black and white, co Many signatures have not been removed.
